Understanding Chicken Wings prices in Lagos State
Why Chicken Wings prices vary so much
Chicken Wings costs 25% more at Century Market (₦7,500) than at Mile 12 Market (₦6,000) — a difference of ₦1,500 per 1kg for the same item.
Most of that gap is transport and distance from where the item is produced or landed. Market size matters too: high-turnover markets buy in larger volumes and sell on thinner margins, while smaller neighbourhood markets carry the cost of a shorter supply chain. Whether a market is primarily wholesale or retail can account for much of the rest.
Is Chicken Wings getting more expensive?
Over the last 90 days the median price has risen from ₦6,500 to ₦7,500 per 1kg — a change of 15.4%. If you buy this regularly and have somewhere to store it, buying ahead may be worth considering.
Which unit is Chicken Wings sold in?
Markets report Chicken Wings in 1kg, carton. We never average across units — a price per 1kg and a price per carton are different figures, and treating them as one number produces something meaningless. Compare like with like, and check the unit before assuming one market is cheaper than another.
All figures are medians of prices recorded in Nigerian markets, published in Naira.
